- Sleeping on the slopes shortens the night drive to the Paltuding gate, so you leave later and sleep longer than in town. Most tours can collect you on their way up — confirm the exact pickup point for your accommodation when you book.
- Nights are genuinely cool up here, and colder still at the crater — close to 0 °C before dawn in the dry season, with wind on the rim. Pack three layers, a hat and gloves even if the coast felt tropical; the mountain air is the reward, not the trap.
